NST handed over KALAN to the Rescue Unit of the Fire Department of the Czech republic — The next phase of testing and training begins in Hlučín

Ratíškovice, February 2025 — company New Space Technologies, LLC (NST) forwarded to the Rescue Unit of the Fire Department of the Czech republic (ZÚ HZS CR) first KALAN amphibious tracked vehicle, developed specifically for the needs of emergency services.

Brigadier General Ing. David Kareš, commander of the Rescue Unit of the Fire Department of the Czech republic in Hlučín, personally took delivery of the vehicle with his fellow firefighters and rescue workers. The vehicle was then transported to Hlučín, where its capabilities will be tested in practical use.

First phase: Training and testing in Hlučín

After the transfer of KALAN to Hlučín, the first phase will start immediately, in which firefighters receive theoretical and practical training to control and operate the vehicle and carry out a basic verification of the vehicle's capabilities, including its performance and properties on land and in water.

As part of this phase, all operational aspects will be carefully evaluated with a focus on suitability for practical use in rescue operations.

NST ensures maximum support

Company NST really appreciates this collaboration. The NST team of technicians directly on site at the Rescue Unit of the Fire Department of the Czech Republic will thoroughly train the machinists of the fire brigade and carry out setting and adjustment of the vehicle. The NST team will continue to be fully available for technical support of the operation of the vehicle, including on-site at the fire brigade and for any modifications to the vehicle so that it is best prepared for full deployment.

“The handover of KALAN is not only a reason for joy for us, but also a great responsibility. We want firefighters to have a vehicle at their disposal that they can rely on as much as possible in all situations. We stand ready to provide all technical support and ensure that KALAN will accurately meet the needs of rescue operations,” says Radek Sejbal, Project Manager NST

Next steps and missions of KALAN
